Get To Know Sport Tech:

Eric Pugliese and Rob Tranchida formed Sport-Tech Construction in 2011, combining Eric’s skills in the field with Rob’s business operations experience. Eric learned the court and field construction business from his father, Angelo, who today serves as the company’s sales executive after 30 years of building quality tennis courts and athletic fields across the tri-state area. Rob grew up in his father’s deli business, where he learned accounting and general business operations.

Eric, who serves as President, and Rob, Secretary/Treasurer, have grown the business from a few trucks with five employees being run from a kitchen counter to a real office space with 25 employees and a fleet of trucks. In February 2018, they added Sport-Tech Acrylics, forming a partnership with Tennis Court Acrylics Specialist Michael Edgerton, a Certified Tennis Court Builder.

They’ve completed projects for the US Open located in Queens, NY, Fordham University, Iona, Marist, Sarah Lawrence, Manhattan, and SUNY Purchase colleges among others, and private schools such as Rye Country Day School in Rye, N.Y., and the Hackley School in Tarrytown, N.Y.

“We have the talent to be a bigger business, but we prefer to be a quality business,” Eric says.

Sport-Tech Construction & Acrylics are members of the American Sports Builders Association, which for 50 years has set industry standards for the design, construction and maintenance of athletic facilities across the country. Whether it’s all-weather asphalt courts like those used at the U.S. Open, or a synthetic turf athletic field or running track, Sport- Tech will deliver your finished product with a level of skill, attention to detail and concern for your budget that will leave you satisfied and proud.

Michael Edgerton – President & Partner, Sport-Tech Acrylics

Want the quality of a US Open tennis court in your backyard? Mike can deliver. As former President of the Tennis Court Division of the American Sports Builders Association for the last two years, and an Association Board Member for eight, Mike is at the center of new developments in the world of court construction. He’s earned Certified Tennis Court Builder status from the Association for a decade through continuing education programs. His specialty is working with Court Acrylics. “My forte is repairing and resurfacing courts -- all kinds of courts,” Mike says. “I’m always doing my research and seeing what’s new out there.” Mike served as East Coast sales manager for DecoTurf, which provides the surface for the US Open courts, ran a division of Copeland Coating Company for seven years and worked with Angelo and Eric in project management for five years. Mike has worked on a variety of courts and playscapes for NYC Parks and Rec and across the tri-state area. He’s meticulous when it comes to preparing a surface for specialized acrylics, including the new, environmentally friendly products now on the market.

Angelo Pugliese – Sales Manager

Return business is perhaps the most valid indication of success for any company, and Angelo continues to get calls for additional work from clients, architects and builders he’s worked with for decades. While he now provides facilities built with the latest technology, he still considers responsive service and fair prices as the keys to generating repeat and referral customers. At 67, Angelo enjoys seeing his son and his friends take the business to new heights while he continues to provide them his expertise and reputation in the field.

Lance Geyson – General Manager

Like the others at Sport-Tech, Lance learned the business from the ground up and at just 28 years old he’s already built an impressive resume in the construction field. Lance started at his father’s construction sites when he was a teen, working on residential and commercial projects. He operated heavy machinery for Rok-Built Construction of Yorktown, NY, and moved on to project management and quality control for other companies, including Triton Construction of Manhattan. He managed the $42 million renovation of all facilities in the Middletown (NY) Central School District -- where Sport-Tech built an eight-court tennis facility that will host the state championship tournament. Lance will continue doing what he knows best – managing operations of large, municipal and school projects.

Frank Trifiletti – Fence Division Manager

Sport-Tech offers start-to-finish service, from planning to locking the gate on your new investment. Frank has been installing commercial, industrial and residential fences across the tri-state area for three decades. He recently joined Sport-Tech after running his own business, Country Fence, of Carmel, N.Y., for 24 years. “If it’s fence related I do it,” Frank says. “If it breaks, I weld it.” Frank designs, fabricates and repairs all types of fencing material and gates, from aluminum and chain link to PVC and wood.

Beth Golden – Office Manager

A successful team needs to be well organized and that’s where Beth comes in. Beth joined Sport-Tech two years ago and as the only woman on a team of 25 men, she has her hands full. You’ll likely chat with Beth on the phone or in emails and she’ll make sure Eric and Rob are on time for your meeting. As a former Chase banker serving high-profile clients, a mother of two and a former business owner, Beth knows how to juggle tasks while providing exceptional customer service. And she has the personality to keep it all working smoothly. “I have a really good sense of humor and a very thick skin,” Beth says. “I’m so lucky to be with this team. Rob & Eric put together a really good team..”
