Sport-Tech Construction & Acrylics
Eric and Rob had been friends for 14 years before they decided to join forces. In 2011 each brought their own unique skill set and strength to the table. Eric’s training was not just technical but firsthand experience as well. He learned court and field construction from one of the best in the business, his father, Angelo, who had more than 30 years experience in the construction of superior quality tennis courts and athletic fields. Rob honed his business acumen in general business operations and accounting practices by first working in his father’s deli business and later, at an accounting firm.
Eric currently serves as President and Rob as Secretary/Treasurer. Together, with hard work and perseverance, they have grown the business from a modest few trucks and just five employees working at Rob’s kitchen counter, to a physical office complex with over twenty-five employees and a fleet of trucks and constructoin vehicles. In February 2018, they invited Mike Edgerton, a Certified Tennis Court Builder and Tennis Court Acrylics Specialist, to join the company. Hence, Sport-Tech Acrylics was born.
Michael (Mike) Edgerton
President & Partner – Sport-Tech Acrylics
When Mike joined the Sport-Tech team in 2018 as President and Partner of Sport-Tech Acrylics, he brought with him his extensive knowledge and expertise in the specialized field of court acrylics. He received his Certified Tennis Court Builder credentials over 10 years ago and for two years served as President of the Tennis Court Division of the American Sports Builders Association and as an Association Board Member for eight years.
His prior experience includes East Coast Sales Manager for DecoTurf, the company providing the surface for the US Open courts. In addition, he ran a division of Copeland Coating Company for seven years and then worked for five years as Project Manager with Angelo and Eric.
Mike is meticulous in preparing a surface for specialized acrylics, including new and environmentally friendly products now on the market. He has worked on a variety of courts and playscapes for NYC Parks and Rec and across the tri-state region. Mike is at the center of new developments in the world of court construction. “My forte is repairing and resurfacing courts – all kinds of courts,” Mike says. “I’m always doing my research and seeing what’s new out there.” Want the quality of a US Open tennis court in your backyard? Mike’s your guy.
Sport-Tech has completed projects in partnership with the U.S. Open, Fordham University, Iona Prep, Marist College, Sarah Lawrence College, and S.U.N.Y. Purchase amongst others, as well as private schools including Rye Country Day School and the Hackley School.
